If My PeopleThe strongest and clearest reminder of how we interact with a sovereign God from day to day would have to be the much quoted verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14 which becomes the springboard for this challenging 22 weeks teaching series: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Let me paraphrase that a little: “If my people … who understand my grace and have been blessed by the revelation of Who I am … live out the reality of that grace… in humility, brokenness, worship, confession and prayer …… then that grace will not be without effect … I will heal their entire land … through them.” I need to issue a warning before you proceed. This is not an ‘ego-stroking, hand-holding, let’s make everyone feel warm and mushy’ sermon series. God has a very serious agenda today and if you embrace that agenda with equal seriousness you will find yourself challenged at the very core of your being as you face issues and questions at a deeper level than you may have experienced at any time in your Christian walk.
In fact I would go so far as to say that if you allow the exhortations and challenges laid out before you in this series to really sink in, if you allow the essence of these messages to actually reach your heart, your whole life will change – forever - and that's a promise!
